The purpose of this book is to study how the poet Augusto dos Anjos was presented in newspapers and periodicals at the beginning of the 20th century covering the period from 1908 to 1914. In this context we analyze how the poet was portrayed by the press before and after the publication of what became his only book Eu (1912). We came across very divergent opinions about Augusto dos Anjos' poetry and its effects on the public of his time. In addition we were able to see how Augusto dos Anjos was treated by critics even before he traveled to Rio de Janeiro in 1910 to gain greater visibility on the artistic and literary scene through the publication of his book Eu in 1912. More than that it was also possible to see how opinions about Augusto's poetics changed especially after his death in November 1914 and how critics looked at his writings in order to better understand the unique way in which the poet from Paraíba constructed his poetics.
