In 1949 she followed her father Chen Zhiping from mainland China to Taiwan to start her writing career and later entered the film and television production industry.</p><p></p><p>琼瑶十六岁时以心如为笔名发表小说《云影》，二十五岁时出版了第一部小说《窗外》。多年来，笔耕不辍，代表作有《烟雨濛濛》《还珠格格》《一帘幽梦》《庭院深深》等，并有多部经典作品被改编为电影、电视剧，影响至深，成为一代人的青春回忆。</p><p></p><p>At the age of sixteen Qiong Yao published the novel Cloud Shadow under the pen name Xinru and at the age of twenty-five she published her first novel Outside the Window.
