<p>This book delves into the critical issue of medicine usage and disposal highlighting its profound impact on public health and environmental sustainability. While medicines are essential for treating diseases relieving pain and enhancing quality of life their misuse and improper disposal pose significant risks. Safe usage not only involves correct administration but also responsible storage and disposal.</p><p></p><p>Improper disposal of expired or unused medicines-such as flushing them down the drain or tossing them in the trash-can lead to drug pollution posing environmental and health hazards. Alarmingly despite their expertise healthcare organizations often provide inconsistent guidance on safe disposal methods. This gap calls for urgent attention and standardized guidelines.</p><p></p><p>Focusing on the state of Gujarat this study presents findings from a comprehensive field survey involving 385 respondents from rural semi-urban and urban areas. The research evaluates public awareness and practices related to the disposal of unused and expired medications among professionals students and households. It reveals a concerning lack of knowledge about safe drug disposal.</p><p></p><p>The book emphasizes the urgent need for public education policy intervention and collaborative efforts across sectors.
