The science of Ayurvedic pharmaceutics itself specifies certain tests to ascertain the quality of metals in Mrita lauha/ Bhasmas. Before application the ancient scholars clearly and very strictly advised some conditions for the acceptable quality of Mrita Lauha (Bhasma).The first and the most important test is that Mrita lauha (Bhasma) should float on water. This test is an indication that the heavy Metals exist in a different form. Heavy Metals are defined as those which are elements with higher specific gravity.
