Babbitt

The story revolves around George F. Babbitt the eponymous protagonist who is a middle-aged real estate broker living in the fictional city of Zenith. Babbitt is portrayed as a representative figure of the average American businessman conforming to the values and expectations of his social class. Babbitt leads a comfortable but unfulfilling life focused on accumulating wealth social status and maintaining the appearance of success. He is a member of various clubs and organizations follows the latest trends and conforms to societal norms without questioning them. As the story progresses Babbitt becomes increasingly disillusioned with his life and begins to question the values and ideals he has been living by.
