<p>Within a few short hours rising floodwaters force next-door neighbors into a desperate fight for survival.</p><p> </p><p>Before Hurricane Katrina neighbors Doreen Williams an African American single mother and Richard Girard a reclusive gay man were aloof and even suspicious of each other.
