Banking Sector and Stock Market Performance in Nigeria

This Book studies and examines the impact of banking sector consolidation on the performance of Nigerian Stock Exchange Market. One major problem with the Nigerian economy is the total dependence on oil as the major source of funding government projects thereby making it more volatile to international risk. The study used both primary and secondary data which were mainly obtained for the 21 Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) operating in the economy during the period of the study and the CBN Statistical Bulletin alongside with the NSE Facts book. Also More than 40 journals and many text books were referenced in the study. The research findings had paved way to so many recommendations on how the banks and Stock Market of the financial sector can contribute to the growth of the Nigerian Economy.
