Basic Income in Brazil

About The Book

This book rescues the trajectory of direct cash transfer programs in Brazil their differences and specificities. We highlight the work of Senator Eduardo Suplicy an important figure in the development of social policy in the country; among other projects the Minimum Income Program and the Basic Citizenship Income Law the first was presented in 1991 and the second sanctioned in 2004. Both deal with the same area of action being the Minimum Income the basis for the promotion of public policies in the 90''s and the Basic Income that inserted Brazil in the vanguard of these policies worldwide but which is still an unknown as to its regulation. The Bolsa Família programme was later considered its first stage.
