Basics of Statistics

This is a foundation course in Statistics. It provides an introduction to statistics essential for multi-disciplinary study. The emphasis throughout is on elements of statistical thinking and insight is drawn from simple data. The course presents quantitative methods as an essential intellectual method appropriate for study alongside approaches to social sciences and literary cultural and historical studies. The course is oriented towards the use of Basics of statistics and focused on interpretation of the results as well as the nature of statistical thinking as a fundamental intellectual method. The basic aim is to understand statistical thinking as a fundamental intellectual method and to provide a foundation in basic statistical techniques and principles.
