The battle of Pasco as the culmination of the first liberating expedition led by Juan Antonio Alvarez de Arenales in 1820 proposes a summary look at the importance of the silver mines of Cerro de Pasco which during the colonial period served as an articulator of the economies of the people of the central highlands of Peru Above all it became the most important mining center for the economy of the colonial State and during the war for independence the interest that it gained for the control and administration of the resources that were produced here both by the royalists and the nascent republic but also by private interests that sought to take possession with the objective of obtaining economic benefits.
