Bayou des Acadiens = Blind River

<p>«Un vieux hangar à tabac tout imprégné des odeurs du passé. Un lit d'hôpital où une malade exhale son dernier soupir. Un aéroport où deux étrangères vivent un moment de complicité.<br /><br />Bayou des Acadiens c'est tous ces lieux et d'autres encore que Beverly Matherne a peuplés des fantômes de l'enfance et d'êtres aimants et souffrants qu'elle nous invite à côtoyer. Bayou des Acadiens c'est un coin de la Louisiane certes mais c'est aussi tout ce que l'on peut devenir et découvrir à partir de ce hameau accroché aux rives d'une rivière brune coulant au ralenti.<br /><br />Par-dessus tout c'est la savoureuse langue française de l'Acadie tropicale. Si elle vit et respire chante et pleure cette langue-là c'est certainement parce qu'elle a tant d'histoires à nous dire.»<br /><br /><br />«An old tabacco shed heavy with the smells of the past. A hospital bed where a dying woman releases her last breath. An airport where two strangers meet and briefly share their livres.<br /><br />Blind River is all of these places and more still places that Beverly Matherne has filled with the ghosts of childhood and with living souls loving and suffering whom she invites us to encounter. Blind River is a corner of Louisiana yes but it is also everything that one can become and discover starting from a homestead hanging onto the banks of a brown bayou flowing ever so lazily.<br /><br />Above all it is the flavorful French language of tropical Acadie.
