Bayou Shadows

<p>Book 2 in the Bayou Shadows Trilogy. Mira takes over from her mother and grandmother the duties of taking care of the town and swamp Bayou Shadows.</p><p>The next morning the village awoke to an unsettling silence. Birds that usually greeted the dawn were nowhere to be heard. The air was thick heavy with something unseen something pressing against the edge of reality.</p><p>Mira wasn't the only one who noticed.</p><p>Her mother Mabel stood at the center of the village speaking in hushed tones with the elders. Their faces were tense their eyes wary.</p><p>Mira approached catching pieces of their conversation.</p><p>...too soon for this to be happening again.</p><p>...not the same as before but similar...</p><p>...the balance could be shifting.</p><p>Mira cleared her throat making her presence known. What's happening?</p><p>Mabel hesitated before answering. We don't know yet. But the bayou is trying to tell us something.</p><p>The mist Mira said. It's different isn't it?</p><p>Her mother studied her carefully then nodded. Yes. And I have a feeling you're going to be the one to find out why.</p>
