Be Future Proof

Recently I was travelling in a car with an old friend whom I had met after many decades. As we exchanged stories of our past detailing where life had taken us I shared my career journey – from Marketing to Advertising to the Social Development sector. After I finished he remarked “Wow you should be really grateful for having continuous non-stop work for the last 37 years. Not many people have that privilege. In this day and age of climaterelated and technology-related disruptions like AI you seem to be enjoying a sustainable and future-proof career!” That insight made me reflect upon my career and life. Looking around I could see that many of my contemporaries and friends had been struggling to survive in the competitive corporate world finding it challenging to transition to new areas of work. I pondered what had made it possible for me to lead a sustainable and futureproof career and realized that my experiences might have a story which I had never cared to see before. It may be useful for someone looking to future-proof their career. We have all dreamt of once writing a book and have conjured up many romantic or other stories in our minds. This book is my love story but of a different kind. It’s a love that didn’t happen at first sight. It slowly simmered at first in my heart before it took over my mind and then changed my thinking as well as my life. Over the years it has shaped me into the person I am today. In a way it is the story of how I fell in love with sustainability and how it has become my reason to share with my readers the immense potential it has unlocked in my life.
