This book starts with the story of slaves on both sides of the Crawford and Wright families through the Civil War and into emancipation and centers on the union of Martha Jane Wright and Isaac Crawford Sr. and the raising of seven children during the great depression continued rigid segregation and discrimination and physical problems. These children and their children got involved in a variety of jobs and professions and emerged as loving successful people who made themselves pillars of their communities.
