Beautiful Scars

I was born and raised in beautifulSouth Africa then I came to theUnited States a year ago to workabroad. To be exposed to anotherculture and country half way acrossthe world fl ooded me with a wholelot of emotion. During this timepen paper and prayer became mymost loyal companions.What started out as songwritingturned into poetry it became atemporary refuge where I couldpour myself onto paper. Inspired by the amazing people I met on my journeyto the ones who left but did not leave my life untouched. In those moments ofoverwhelming joy and also sadness I would fi nd myself hiking to a desolate hilltopwith my guitar and then after spending time with God I would write what I felt.I am easily drawn to people's emotions and as an outsider I can easily see thebeauty in the brokeness like precious fl owers blooming in the middle of a vastdesert. Embedded in these pages is a short journey one where I was broken andhealed all at once.... I never thought I would publish it.I am humble in knowing that I am fortunate to be able to write... We are strongerthan we seem. And although we fall we will always get back up there is a Strongerhand at work in our lives.
