In 1949 she followed her father Chen Zhiping from mainland China to Taiwan to start her writing career and later entered the film and television production industry.</p><p></p><p>?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????</p><p></p><p>At the age of sixteen Qiong Yao published the novel Cloud Shadow under the pen name Xinru and at the age of twenty-five she published her first novel Outside the Window.
