It is not sufficient to have knowledge about the biological and organic aspects of a disease only it is important to understand the person having the disease and his psychological background. Developments in medical as well as dental education have come about mainly as a response to scientific and technological advances. There is a growing danger that the doctor may become so preoccupied with the various technologies that he loses sight of the patient as a “whole person” functioning in society.
