About The Book

Listening to children in their role as students seeks to highlight childhood as a social actor by giving visibility to the voices of children in grades 1 through 4 of basic education who are experiencing their childhood in the daily life of a private school. This is a study of the concepts of studenthood and childhood based on the Sociology of Childhood more specifically on Regine Sirota (2001 p.15). Authors such as Sarmento Sarmento & Pinto Narodowski Rousseau Ariès Larrosa Corsaro among others articulate and mobilize unique moments of reflection in the fabric of this research. Listening to the voices of contemporary institutionalized childhood is a challenge for pedagogical practices in the early years of education.
