BELOVED DRAGON

On her 47th birthday Samantha's partner of 10 years leaves her without warning. Samantha is in deep shock. One summer evening as she sits listlessly on her back patio a dragon lands under the great elm tree in her back yard. The dragon makes her a proposition: to clean his thousands of light sensitive scales a job so delicate it will take a year. In exchange he promises money information music and...love. But what about her house and her job during a whole year's absence? The dragon assures her that he can control time and only two weeks will pass in her world proving it by changing night to early morning. It's neither money nor information nor the dubious promise of love but that of music that makes up her mind. Her conservative family had thwarted her wish to become a musician so she became a school teacher instead. And what does she have to lose since her life is at a dead end anyway? She signs the contract. Samantha and the dragon travel to his hidden lair high up in the Himalayan Mountains and there she begins a new life of self discovery as they share the stories of their lives and their worlds and the dragon becomes her dear friend. Except for one lingering suspicion. In legend dragons are deceptive and as the dragon himself says: in every legend there is a kernel of truth.
