Berlin Fresco - Selected Poems

<p>Berlin Fresco is the first volume in English by the German poet translator editor and publisher Norbert Hummelt. Born in the Rhineland in 1962 he has been a freelance writer since 1991 and editor of the literary-critical journal Text+Kritik. He has taught at the Deutsche Literaturinstitut (German Literature Institute) in Leipzig and at the Universität der Künste (University of the Arts) in Berlin. He has translated the poetry of W.B. Yeats Wordsworth and Inger Christensen as well as Eliot's Four Quartets and The Waste Land.</p><p></p><p></p><p>but death takes each one by the hand: the thin man</p><p>in his white robe the picture the crumbling script that speaks</p><p>again and again of just one thing: mr monk I would just like to say</p><p></p><p></p><p>something: see how well I can dance before you all .. god every</p><p>time I hear that I'm so sorry I still want to get this and that</p><p>finished and make it to the rhine just one more time the way it looks</p><p></p><p></p><p>in the old engravings .. and then fade for ever into the wall</p>
