BILLY BUNTER'S BRAINWAVE

From the time when Bunter snooping around for tuck in the study of Gerald Loder the unpopular prefect came across Loder's secret store of cigarettes. The Sixth-Form blackguard was involved in a lot of trouble and his efforts to take it out on Bunter Harry Wharton and George Wingate had a way of recoiling on his own head. Indeed at one point Bunter was able to cheek Loder right and left while the frustrated prefect baulked of retaliatory action amazed onlookers by enduring this unprecedented treatment in furious silence.Loder's bitterness and yearning for revenge coupled with his desire for a coveted place in the Greyfriars First Eleven results in him coming up with a scheme for turning the tables that makes even his hireling the shady bookie Joey Banks uneasy. Bunter overhears the plot but as always no one will believe his story. Bunter is genuinely concerned about Wingate's danger and finally has a brain-wave. Perhaps there is a way to after all to warn Wingate and save the day despite his reputation as an Ananias.
