This book looks for tree locust biology and ecology. The tree locust commonly found on the Sudanese western sand plains causing considerable damage to the gum Arabic producing Acacia trees. The objectives of the book are to investigate the factors that influence the tree locust population movements and distribution in North Kordofan State. These factors include morphology behavior and food intake in addition to the life cycle and the effects of soil types on oviposition. High populations were recorded during the period from June to September reaching the peak in November. Oviposition period was during June and July and hoppers which have six stages appeared between July and October and their development lasted within 1-2 months. The female laid 1-3 egg pods and each pod containing 150-200 eggs. Rainfall encountered during periods of low rainfall and relative humidity. Author concluded that this pest cause serious damage to Acacia and decrease gum production so efforts have to be done by early survey and arrange management in optimum time for the benefit of the gum producers and the country too.
