Biodegradable Hydrogel from Polysaccharide and Plant oil
English

About The Book

Because of environmental concerns renewable sources have been used for preparing various industrial products. For a long time plant oil and derivatives have been used for polymer biomaterials. Plant oil consists mostly of triglycerides. These are used as starting materials for the synthesis of bio-based resins polymer. These have many advantages such as biodegradability renewability energy saving ease of production less CO2 emission and low price. Synthetic hydrogels consisting of hydrophobic acrylate epoxidized soybean oil and hydrophilic dextran segments in polymer structure network were prepared by UV photo-polymerisation and Michael addition reaction.
