في رواية سيرة عين‏‎ ‎للأديب الفلسطيني إبراهيم نصرالله تحضر شخصية ‏المصوِّرة الفلسطينية الرائدة كريمة عبود (1893-1940)، على أكثر من ‏مستوى: ففي النصف الأول من القرن الماضي، استطاعت كريمة عبود أن ‏تخترق واقعًا نمطيًا احتكر فيه الرجال فنَّ التصوير الفوتوغرافي، وبهذا ‏استحقت أن تنال لقب رائدة التصوير في فلسطين والعالم العربي، ‏واستطاعت أن تحقق المعنى العميق للصورة باعتبارها فنًّا، وهذا ما رسّخ ‏ريادتها أكثر؛ هذه الريادة التي باتت موضع تقدير في العالم كله اليوم. ‏واستطاعت كريمة أن تخترق الواقع الاجتماعي بتمرّدها على الصورة ‏التقليدية للمرأة، وهي تحقق حضورها القوي كفتاة وامرأة قادرة على انتزاع ‏حريتها وانتزاع الاعتراف بحقها، بحيث يمكن أن نعتبرها واحدة من ‏النهضويات اللواتي حققن حرية المرأة قولًا وفعلًا.‏ وإذا كانت هذه الرواية عن ذلك كله، فهي أيضًا عن فن التصوير نفسه، ‏وحكاية عائلة أصيبت في أعمق أعماقها بلعنة الاستعمار البريطاني ومن ‏ثمَّ الصهيوني الذي ابتليت بهما في فلسطين.‏ رواية مختلفة عن شخصيات مختلفة، تبدو، برقّتها وعذوبتها وشجنها، ‏أغنية من أجمل أغاني فلسطين.‏ يحتضن هذا العمل الملحمي الذي يأتي امتداداً لـ (الملهاة الفلسطينية): ‏المشروع الروائي الأوسع ثلاثية الأجراس وتضم ثلاثة أعمال روائية: ‏‏(ظلال المفاتيح)، (سيرة عين) و(دبابة تحت شجرة عيد الميلاد)، وبه يؤكد ‏إبراهيم نصرالله قدرة فائقة على التجدّد والعطاء وارتياد مناطق جديدة، ‏تاريخيّاً، وإنسانياً.‏<br<In the work of Palestinian writer Ibrahim Nasrallah the figure of the pioneering Palestinian photographer Karimeh Abbud (1893–1940) emerges on multiple levels. In the first half of the last century Abbud broke through a stereotypical reality where men monopolized the art of photography earning the title of pioneer of photography in Palestine and the Arab world. She succeeded in realizing the profound significance of photography as an art form—a feat that further cemented her pioneering status which is now celebrated globally. Abbud also defied social norms by challenging the traditional image of women asserting a powerful presence as a young woman capable of seizing her freedom and claiming her rights; she stands as a figure of the Arab Renaissance (*Nahda*) who championed women's liberty in both word and deed. While the novel addresses these themes it is also a story about the art of photography itself and the tale of a family struck to its very core by the curse of British—and subsequently Zionist—colonialism in Palestine. It is a distinctive novel featuring unique characters; with its delicacy lyricism and poignant melancholy it feels like one of Palestine’s most beautiful songs. This epic work—an extension of Nasrallah’s broader *Palestinian Comedy* project—encompasses the Bells Trilogy comprising three novels: *Shadows of the Keys* *Biography of an Eye* and *A Tank Under the Christmas Tree*. Through it Ibrahim Nasrallah demonstrates an exceptional capacity for renewal creativity and the exploration of new historical and human frontiers.
