Biology and Population Dynamics of Myctophid Fishes in the Arabian Sea

Myctophids are among the most abundant group of mesopelagic fishes which offers excellent scope for development of fisheries in Indian Ocean. Information on length-weight relationship age and growth spawning season fecundity and age at maturity and information on bycatch discards are required for sustainable utilization of myctophid resource in the Indian Ocean. The present investigations have been carried out as there is a paucity of information on these aspects pertaining to myctophids in Indian Ocean. The content of the book has been organized into seven Chapters which includes a review of available literature on myctophids summary and recommendations.
