Biomimetics and Artefacts for Aquatic Environments

About The Book

The main theme guiding the discourse of this book presents the principles of biomimicry as a tool for innovation in sustainability in the areas of design. This is a multidisciplinary research project which looks at plant anatomy and investigates the strategies of lightness and resistance of Agave cell walls. This research also addresses surfboard production processes environmental issues and the application of natural principles to artefacts for aquatic environments through parametric design and 3D printing. In this case it was found that the application of digital technologies was of great relevance to the design area especially when aligned with the principles of biological systems.
