In the biopharmaceutical industry essentially thereare three components that play the main role inproducing biopharmaceutical products the host cellthe expression vector and the bioreactor and/orproduction environment. To produce the highly valuedand desired products the choice of a suitable hostis one of the most important aspects. The hostrequired is not only required to produce the desiredproduct but also needs to demonstrate robustness ina bioreactor system. Constantly facing challenges ina bioreactor cells often undergo apoptosis awell-known limiting factor in biopharmaceuticalproduction which ultimately leads to low yield ofvaluable protein(s). We have genetically engineereda CHO-K1 cell line to constitutively express humaninsulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and murinepolyoma large T-antigen (PyLT-Ag) to generateSuper-CHO and CHO-T respectively two cell lines thatcan potentially serve different niches in thebiopharmaceutical industry.
