Bioplastic Production From Agricultural Wastes

About The Book

The regular plastic is made from petroleum-based byproducts while Bioplastic is the degradable plastic made from biological resources like corn starch straws wood-chips vegetable fats and oils. Bioplastic could also be made from used plastic bottles and agricultural byproducts. The present work comprises of production of bioplastic from complete agricultural wastes like corn cobs instead of corn starch wax and fats derived from slaughterhouse wastes instead of vegetable oils. The corn starch and vegetable oils are edible resources which have been replace by wastes which are mostly thrown. The polylactic acid required for bioplastic production has also been produced by polymerization of lactic acid produced from corn cob sugarcane bagasse and potato peels using Lactobacilli. Hence the Bioplastic produced was completely from waste materials and not from any edible resource.
