BIRDS AND EDUCATION

Although important advances have been made in the conversation in Cuba a key point that is in the process of development is the generation of interest and participation of each and everyone in the conservation of nature. This task is very important in the solution of environmental problems; to achieve it we have the tools and methods offered by environmental education which is conceived as a process that promotes in individuals and social groups new values and attitudes in relation to the environment..The role of biologists in Latin America has been very important since this guild was the initial promoter of environmental education therefore even though the information in this work may be incomplete it is a sample of the contributions made by Cubans who have contributed to this task.The first question we ask ourselves in this book is why work in environmental education if we are ornithologists? Working with birds offers us many advantages to draw the attention of the public especially children to the environmental problems we face today.
