BIRDS LIKE US (A collection of poems)

Birds Like Us is the maiden collection of poems composed by Deepak K Choudhary (Darshak). The collection comprises 90 poems penned at different points of time and on an array of subjects straddling across various contextual terrains of human existence. The poems have been composed employing diverse forms of poetic expression styles and techniques. While some of the pieces may read almost like Browningian anterior monologues marked by a reflective tone and multiple layers of inwardness some others may strike you with their conversational and occasionally balladic approach and palpable earthiness of treatment. A few others seem to be rooted in memories and reminiscences floating in the ‘pasts’ defying the deterministic mechanism of ‘calendar-clock precision’. At times the readers may also notice the presence of some elements and features of metaphysical existential surreal and symbolic poetry in practice. Satire rooted in the zeitgeist is a striking aspect in case of some other poems with political undertones. The poet has not divided the collection into segments as he believes that any such attempt will obstruct the process of reading without preconceived notions and presuppositions.
