Bits of Life

One day while Bitsy and I were living in Wichita Kansas I came home for lunch to find a round black and charred spot on the kitchen floor. Of course I knew what had happened. Bitsy was a smoker then and she had emptied a hot ash tray into the kitchen waste basket caught it on fire and burned the floor but being a considerate husband I gave her an opportunity to explain by asking What happened? She calmly stated Would you believe spontaneous combustion? I replied You dont even know what that means. She replied Well I know its not my fault! To be both quick witted and funny are great traits to have especially when your vocation is writing.I have selected several of her columns for this book which will bring back memories to you fill you with much laughter and perhaps a few tears but most of all you will be entertained.
