BLENDING EAST AND WEST

As the world becomes a more connected place the opportunity for cross-cultural marriages has increased significantly. Such marriages offer hope for the future regarding cross-cultural relations on multiple levels but they also pose challenges insofar as marital partners having different orientations regarding what can be expected in such an arrangement. A cross-cultural marriage opens the door for different expectations to arise regarding what the concept of a marriage is. Introducing children into the cross-cultural union spawns even more fundamental questions. If divorce results then the concept of what a divorce represents is on the table as well.
