Dr. Muriel Sukumaran née Crowther took to art post retirement. She started with water colour painting charcoal ink and finally found her niche with oil painting. She then moved on to clay modelling and designing art with semi-precious stones. It was at this juncture she turned to writing. Her first book Faces of Eve was written at age 75 years. She spent more than 500 years with the love of her life Dr. P. Sukumaran in Trivandrum. This book was written as an ode to their life together in Medical College prior to his passing. Their love story brought into this world two daughters and later two grandchildren who are the apple of their eyes. She is an avid lover of animals and has enjoyed the love and companionship of dogs for many years
