Bolat Saliev

Bolat Saliev (1887-1938) was a prominent figure in the early 20th-century national awakening and Jadid movement in Turkestan and one of the first Uzbek history professors. During his short but significant life he selflessly served the enlightenment culture and independence of the Uzbek people.This monograph presents a collection of Professor Bolat Saliev's articles and works published in early 20th-century periodicals in Old Uzbek based on the Arabic alphabet translated into English shedding light on the socio-political environment of the time. Drawing upon archival materials scholarly literature and contemporary press the authors seek to explore Bolat Saliev's rich legacy.This book is intended not only for historians but also for a broad readership interested in the ideas of Jadidism.
