The main topic is cultural astronomy and archaeoastronomy. A cultural and thematic arc is drawn for the location of humans in space and time for archaic and ancient cultures. All epochs are presented from Stone Age Bronze Age Ancient Cultures to Early Modern Time or the Baroque. There are in addition remarkable contributions on the topics of timekeeping navigation and surveying. Astronomical orientations of buildings and sites are also addressed. There is a special emphasis on scientific instruments especially astronomical and surveying instruments but also water clocks sundials pendulum clocks and chronometers. Two contributions discuss Astronomical Clocks as heritage of astronomy but also the technical aspects. Relationships between cultural astronomy and other disciplines like archaeology anthropology ethnoastronomy architecture art metrology philosophy ot history of science are also discussed.
