Botanical Nomenclature

The study of Botany cannot be fulfilled without learning the system of botanical nomenclature the backbone on which edifice of entire botany is built. In recent years teaching of plant systematics has become a challenge to the teachers and also teaching of taxonomy in the class room is incomplete if botanical nomenclature has not been taught properly to the students to identify and name the plants correctly. Although sufficient literature is available no effort has been made to provide an organised manner so that the readers would find it very easy to comprehend the basic knowledge of the Code of botanical nomenclature. Moreover there is an urgent need for the book on relevant aspects of nomenclature to be published for reference. To overcome the hurdles of such a situation the present book is comprehensively prepared to cater to the need of students and teachers of botanical science who have limited exposure to nomenclature of plants. The present attempt is a compilation of all of the author’s personal reference extracted through long journey of teaching plant taxonomy.
