Bovine mastitis is a major obstacle for dairy cattle farming. Considered the most expensive disease in the production chain it causes great economic impacts as a decrease in production and quality of the final product. Therefore the adoption of technologies aimed at its early detection is a factor of great importance for the sector.Bovine mastitis can be caused by several factors - microorganisms and physical or chemical injuries but the infectious origin is the most prevalent. Under normal conditions the teat sphincter has muscles that keep it closed in order to prevent the invasion of pathogens.
