Boy Scouts on Motorcycles; Or With the Flying Squadron by G. Harvey Ralphson is an adventurous tale set in the early 20th century featuring a group of Boy Scouts who find themselves embroiled in international intrigue in China. The story begins with the scouts including Jimmie McGraw Ned Nestor Jack Bosworth and Frank Shaw stationed in the Chinese town of Taku. They are awaiting instructions from the United States Secret Service for a mission in Peking. However their contact fails to appear and they soon realize they are being watched by mysterious figures. The scouts discover that their motorcycles have been tampered with indicating that their enemies are aware of their presence and intentions. As the plot unfolds the scouts encounter a man claiming to be Lieutenant Rae from the Secret Service but they quickly suspect he is an imposter. Their suspicions are confirmed when they are captured and tied up by a group of Chinese men led by the deceitful Rae. Despite the dire situation the scouts maintain their resolve and humor even as they face the threat of being silenced permanently. The narrative takes a turn when a squad of American marines arrives to rescue the scouts leading to a chaotic but successful escape. The scouts now accompanied by the marines prepare to continue their mission to Peking determined to uncover the conspiracy against the United States and bring the culprits to justice. Throughout the story themes of bravery loyalty and the spirit of adventure are prevalent showcasing the scouts' resourcefulness and courage in the face of danger.
