About The Book

On a cold and wet September day in 1970 a fifteen-year-old boy from the South Wales valleys said goodbye to his parents at Newport railway station. He was embarking on a journey that would last two years. He was joining the British Army as a Boy Soldier at Bramcote Nuneaton the home of The Junior Leaders Regiment Royal Artillery. Starting his journey as a raw recruit; working his way through the system to leave as a Mustered Gunner and also winning the right to proudly wear the famous Green Beret of the Commandos. He tells about the unwritten rules that were passed down from boy soldier to boy soldier over the years. Rules you had to accept and follow to complete your time at Bramcote.
