About The Book
Description
Author
About the Book: This is an anthology of short stories as well included wherein are four short stories or farces so to say that is anecdotes including the ‘In An Illegible Script’ which is the English version of the author’s Hindi short story ‘Anpadh Lipi Mein…’ that was first published in now extinct though the then prestigious Hindi magazine the Kadambini way back in July 1992 with quite an applause and accolades from the sides of kind readers! The story is still relevant in a sense that though a horde of reforms have taken place in the arena of taxation in India and in the world for that matter after the publication of this story in India exposing in uninhibited terms the official callousness and tyranny of taxation machinery thanks technological interventions still the undercurrent of official mores remains the same. Human beings are the same everywhere and have remained as such throughout all the epochs. Without any defining difference or improvement having come about in their characteristic DNA. Other stories or anecdotes are also those published in other places i.e.; journals of variegated hues. Nothing uttered in this creation is meaningless; this conviction is at work behind the inspiration to publish them in book form for kind readers. About the Author: ‘Videh’ Arvind Kumar: Born at a non-descript hamlet to a couple of modicum means yet endowed with higher ideals and noble intentions and having teaching as their profession ‘Videh’ Arvind Kumar is a post-graduate in Physics and a senior banker - a retired one that is. He has as his hobby the reading of literary books of both English and Hindi particularly those of Nobel laureates. He has been published in magazines like Kadambini long back and other stray magazines and English papers.
