Breaking through the World of Statistics

<p><em>Breaking through the World of Statistics</em> introduces students to statistics and processes that organize summarize and apply data to authentic situations. Instruction within the text is based on the principle of learning-by-doing. Each chapter first presents a specific theory or process for problem-solving and then applies that theory or process to real-world problems. <br /><br />The content features information drawn from diverse disciplines including business and sports. Over the course of the text students will learn about statistics and their measurement data organization descriptive statistics and probability both discrete and continuous. They will also study sampling and sampling distributions confidence intervals hypothesis testing analysis of the variance and both simple and multiple linear regression. <br /><br />The book has been developed to demonstrate that statistics is not a single discipline but rather has broad applications for numerous areas of life and work. <em>Breaking through the World of Statistics</em> is designed for introductory statistics courses and to successfully prepare students for intermediate-level study.</p><p><strong>Kristofor Paulson</strong> attended the University of North Dakota Grand Forks where he earned both a master's degree in business administration and a master of science in applied economics. He is currently an instructor of economics and finance at University of North Dakota where his courses include principles of corporate finance micro- and macroeconomics and business statistics. He is also one of the two current advisors for the Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity and was recognized as an outstanding academic advisor for 2016-17 academic year.</p>
