The difficulty of checking an immense mass of pedigrees - English Australian and American - is in itself a very serious one to any but an idle man; but the further and more important trouble has been that Mr. Bruce Lowe left a very large portion of his work unrevised and inaccuracies here and there which he no doubt would have detected had he lived could not be corrected without also some attempt to assume how far such correction would have altered the tenor of his argument.<br><br>The most important of these inaccuracies I have thought it best to leave standing.
