About The Book

When worn-out parents read to their kids imagine if they picked an exciting story that reminds them of the hope they have for their children to become a better version of themselves. Brilliant! is that story. A whimsical adventure that unexpectedly inspires parents. Only the hardback edition includes a special behind-the-scenes pictorial guide explaining the scene-by-scene symbolism so parents and teachers can appreciate the book and use it to explain the nuances of adoption. Brilliant! follows a speckled egg through twists and turns as it arrives at a strong nest in a strong tree in a strong forest. A speckled bird hatches and develops into a red bird more brilliant than the birds that foster it. The story ends on a high note of hope as together with another brilliant red bird build a strong nest and wait for their speckled egg. The artwork was handcrafted by Atlantas premiere designer/illustrator Russell Shaw. Russell has collaborated on projects for Kid President Catalyst Conference David C Cook Thrive Farmers Coffee Plywood People and more as well as winning recognition in numerous international design industry awards and publications. The story was developed by Matt Burgess author of the innovative childrens book called Skylar and George Washington. Brilliant! was born out of Matts experience adopting his son and daughter from China. Brilliant! is designed to encourage all parents and excite all children but the symbolism is particularly meaningful to adoptive and foster families. Families who have adopted or fostered will notice subtle nuances throughout the book that relate directly to their experience adopting or fostering. The story is a pain-free reminder to adoptive and foster families of where they have been and a vision for where they hope to go.
