About The Book

About the Book -The first question I was asked when I revealed the title of my book why Bringing up boys…why not raising Children? My answer was that children cannot be classified as one. Girls and boys need different ways of bringing up. Some things are the same like nutritious food… structured routine…similar disciplined timings for studies and play…equal participation in daily chores like cleaning their room and keeping their cupboard and study table clean Often boys are allowed to stay out longer with minimum curfew while girls are allowed only restricted timings. While there is a valid reason for this boys need to be also restrained from erratic timings so they don’t get into unhealthy activities. I hope I am justified in sharing my experience in bringing up boys.. The purpose of my writing this book is not to focus on bringing up children but to highlight the difference between the ways we look at the parental narrative while raising children. Girls are made to believe they have to subscribe to societal dictates while boys are entitled to do as they please.. Many mothers will relate to my narration as it gives them hope to have faith in their child and believe in their parenting skills that surface as time rolls. Having two boys…each with his own ovarian benefit…can be a source of stress or fun…depending on how one handles it. All I can say in my favour is that they were a source of enjoyment while they grew up and a pillar of strength as I grow older.. I have divided the book into four parts…Part one is general observations about Mothers and FathersPart two is my entry into MotherhoodPart three is dedicated to my sonsPart four is about other mothers with a tale of their boysYou can read the parts that interest you without losing out on the essence of this book!About the Author -Chaya Srivatsa is a Life coach an independent journalist…corporate trainer… Founder Trustee of Guild of Women Achievers (GOWA)…Jury member of KWAA (Karnataka Women Achievers’ Awards).
