BRITISH BATTALION XV INTERNATIONAL BRIGADE

<p><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>Facsimile of the memorial souvenir to the British Battalion XV International Brigade in the Spanish Civil War including a Roll of Honour. After the Civil War was eventually won by the Nationalists the International Brigades were initially on the 'wrong side' of history. However with WW2 the 'brigadistas' gained prestige as the first guard of democracy as having foreseen the danger of fascism and gone to fight it. Retrospectively it was clear that the war in Spain was a precursor of the Second World War. </span></p><p><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>Reproduced complete with programme song sheet and small colour poster that pledges to fight until fascism has been destroyed. </span></p>
