British Colonization of Zimbabwe

About The Book

The book captures the British colonisation of Zimbabwe and the subsequent struggles that culminated in the Lancaster House Conference and the 1980 independence of Zimbabwe. The object of this book is to set out in the simplest possible manner yet without avoiding tackling complex and controversial issues the sensitive link between colonialism and liberation efforts in Zimbabwe. The author has tried hard to avoid the latest liberation war jargon. Where technical terms were necessary for clarity the author tried to state clearly what they mean. The book portrays the resistance of the African people to white settlement and colonial enterprise. The causes of the need for Africans to liberate themselves are clearly articulated. The book is essentially about the history of our liberation struggle and the revolutionary process undertaken by the oppressed people. Zimbabwe’s independence came about through excruciating suffering and supreme sacrifice by patriotic sons and daughters who waged a long and arduous struggle against the colonial regime.
