Broconeumopathies at Work

About The Book

Over an 8-year period 63 cases of occupational bronchopulmonary disease claims were collected. In all cases studies were made of: Chest X-ray Spirometry and Arterial Gasometry. Five cases were subjected to a cardiac stress test. There were 21 (35.59%) incongruent cases: cases that do not follow the logical/scientific/statistical sequence of alteration of Spirometry-Radiography-Arterial Gasometry-Cardiac Stress Test in the vast majority of cases. In arterial gasometry 27 cases (42.85%) presented incongruence of normal oxygen/low oxygen saturation; one case (1.58%) presented incongruence of normal oxygen/high carbon dioxide saturation. Cases with normal stress test end up further complicating the evaluation and acceptance of previous studies. After observing the results of this study it is difficult to make a scientific fair and impartial decision when issuing an expert medical opinion on occupational bronchopulmonary disease.
