Sophie Silverman grew up in a Jewish neighborhood in Detroit Michigan in the 1950s a time of political racial and social unrest she was shielded from.</span></p><p></p><p><span style=background-color: rgba(249 249 249 1); color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>As a teen Sophie traveled to Birmingham Alabama where she witnessed acts of blatant racism.</span></p><p></p><p><span style=background-color: rgba(249 249 249 1); color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>This experience propelled her to try to fix what was broken in her life and in the lives of others.</span></p><p> </p>
