Originally published in 1914 Dr. Schrader was a translator of Sanskrit and consequentially one of the numerous Theosophists of the early twentieth century who had a strong interest in Buddhism. In this short work he gives an historical account of the beginnings of Buddhism and the life of Siddhartha alongside some philosophical explanations of translated ideas.
