Building Effective and Successful Teams

Because meeting the diverse needs of today's youngchildren and their families can be best accomplishedthrough a team approach to service delivery earlychildhood educators have a specific need forprofessional development in teamwork. In an effortto understand how a collaborative adultlearner-focused model of professional developmentcould be used to effectively provide team trainingthe Building Effective and Successful Teams (BEST)model of team training was developed which allowseducators to form communities of learners in order tocollaboratively train together over time within thecontext of their classrooms and at a pace consistentwith their teaching schedules. This book presents alongitudinal study focused on the influence of theBEST model of team training in the development ofteam behaviors over time. Implications from thisstudy bring together the concepts of adult learningand collaborative professional development in aneffort to aid anyone needing or providing teamdevelopment training in educational settings.
